At Childer Thornton Primary School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all the children in our care. We want to work together with our families to give our children the best possible start in life.
Our Safeguarding Team work with partners in Health, Early Help, Social Care and the Police as part of a multi-agency approach to support our children and families.
All staff have training in Safeguarding and we have regular updates regarding our local context and how to look for and report signs of abuse. We follow the guidance in ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ amongst other statutory and non-statutory documents.
We work closely with our colleagues at the Cheshire West and Chester Safeguarding Children Partnership, and their SCIE Team in particular (Safeguarding Children in Education). More information for parents can be found here:

We support many of our families using a TAF (Team Around the Family) plan. A TAF is a way of working out what extra support you and your family may need. It is used to get everyone working together to identify the needs and strengths of your family. This will look at what extra support you may need and who is best to help you. We have a close relationship with the Ellesmere Port MHST who provide support to many of our families.
You can find more information about TAFs here:
