HOLLY CLASS 2024 - 2025
Welcome to Year Five!
Holly class is taught by Mrs O’Goan with support from Mrs Crockard, Miss Lawson and Mr Kelly.
PE is taught by Mr Grooms each Tuesday but additional opportunities may often arise so please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school each day.
Children begin their specialist music lessons this year and are able to take their clarinets home. Please ensure that clarinets are back in school every Tuesday.
Spanish lessons will be taught on alternative Wednesdays.
We are really excited about our curriculum and have lots of engaging and interesting units of work throughout the year. During Autumn term, we will be discovering what life was like in ancient Rome and how the Romans made a lasting impact on Britain. We will also link our studies to the local area of Chester and find out why it was so important during the Roman period. We will be visiting the DEVA experience in to immerse ourselves into this period of history! In the Spring term, we will look at animal conservation, consider how we can make differences and find out how we can save endangered animals. In the Summer term, we will explore Britain’s settlements by the Anglo-Saxons and Scots.
Please bring reading diaries in everyday and ‘Strive for 5.’ We love learning about what you have been reading at home and love having book talk in class to discuss different authors and genres. TTRockstars and SPAG.com are also part of our weekly homework. We encourage at least 15 minutes of TTRS and spelling and grammar tests will be regularly set and updated on SPAG.com throughout the year.
We are really looking forward to working with your children this year and thank you in advance for your support!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
