Reporting a pupil absence
At Childer Thornton Primary School, we place great importance on attendance, as we know that for the best possible learning outcomes, and highest levels of self-esteem and wellbeing, children need to attend school as much as possible.
At the heart of our approach to attendance, is the belief that high levels of attendance will occur when our families develop a sense of belonging within our school community; therefore our approach is a positive and supportive one and is firmly rooted in the happiness of the child and family.
Reporting an absence
Pre-planned absences should be requested using the form below. Please note, a period of planned absence of 5 or more consecutive days, is likely to result in a fixed penalty notice.
If your child is absent due to illness, please phone the school number and leave the details of the absence on the voicemail system. School needs to know of any symptoms and medical diagnoses to be able to use the correct code in the register and monitor attendance. Failure to alert the office will result in a phonecall and where school cannot make contact, the Safeguarding Leads (Mrs Yarranton/Mrs Belding) may need to make a home visit, in line with safeguarding procedures.
